Eric Belgorodski is a fourth year law student at the Ludwig-Maximilians Universität Munich. He is currently completing a semester abroad in Valparaíso, Chile. His main interest lies in public international law, the area of focus of his law studies in Germany.
He has gathered practical experience in public international law: his positions as research assistant to law firms specializing in extradition law and investment arbitration, as well as his assistance to the lecturer on public international law has provided him with insights into the professional field. His voluntary work as legal consultant for refugees has given him the possibility to work with international refugee law. Throughout his studies of public international law, he has discovered an interest for international environmental law. He has had the opportunity to learn more on this topic through courses in Chile, as environmental protection is an important topic for the country. The recentspeech given at his university by Stella Zervoudaki, the EU representative in Chile, sparked the idea for his contribution to the Global Climate Law and Governance Essay Competition.
