Mr. Cruz Carrillo holds an LLB from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Currently he is pursuing a Master in International Law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHIED). From 2013 to 2018, he served as an attorney at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico in topics related with international environmental law, energy law, law of the sea, diplomatic law and international human rights law. In the private sector, he was junior associate at Pontes & Ledesma, law firm specialized in environmental law.
Likewise, in 2017 he attended the Rhodes Academy on Oceans Law and Policy, obtaining the diploma. In 2016, he attended the Summer Courses at The Hague Academy of International Law. In 2014, he attended the International Summer Wok Camp in Berzeit, Palestine.
